FAQ

Is Hollywood larger than Bollywood?

Film producers face the greatest challenge: how to get their movie noticed by the audience.

The problem is that there are many movies competing for people's time and money. The problem is that you will not be seen if you aren't different from the rest.

But what makes a movie successful? What makes an actor well-known? Or a director? You need to have talent but also luck. Even if you have the most talented actors in the world they won't be able to make it work if they write bad scripts.

There are two types of films: independent productions and blockbuster movies with big budgets. Production and distribution of blockbuster movies costs hundreds of millions. They are made by huge studios, who want to make sure their movies reach as many people possible. But, these high-budget films are more appealing to older audiences.

Independent films are usually smaller productions that can be funded by investors or individuals. These films are often targeted at niche markets and appeal to particular tastes. These films are usually easier to market and produce. They aren't always more affordable to watch, however. In fact, most indie films are very hard to find.

Is it possible to have both types of films? Do we need big blockbuster movies and small independent ones? Hollywood is much bigger than Bollywood. That's because Hollywood produces almost twice as many movies per year as India does!

What happens when my film doesn't perform well at the box office?

Poor box office performance can lead to many complications.

First, you might decide to change how you market your film.

Second, you might decide to rework the script.

Third, it is possible to add additional characters.

Fourth, you might decide to remove some characters.

Fifth, you might want to make some cuts.

Sixth, and you might decide that it wasn't worthwhile making the film.

How much does Hollywood make in a year?

A movie takes around $100 million to create. For a decade, ten movies would be enough to produce enough money for a country.

You could own an island with an airfield, power plant and bank.

If this doesn't sound fun, you are insane.

Hollywood's fame?

The answer was straightforward. They took risks and did something different to make it popular. They made films that would last a lifetime.

They were also willing to try out new ideas.

What is the difference of a producer and distributor?

A producer creates the movie. The movie is distributed via a distributor. A distributor can distribute the movie to theaters or other companies such as Netflix. Distributors purchase movies directly from producers. Then they sell them to theaters, cable channels, or streaming services.

Distributors need to negotiate with theater owners about where their movies will play. This means that certain movies might be more expensive at some theaters than others. Distributors should be able to distribute your movie to as many theaters as possible.
