Are Hollywood and Bollywood bigger than Bollywood?

Film producers face the greatest challenge: how to get their movie noticed by the audience.

Problem is that many movies are competing for people's money and time. And if you don't stand out from the crowd, you won't have much chance of getting watched.

But what is the secret to making a movie successful. What makes an actor well-known? Or a director? You need to have talent but also luck. You might have all the best actors in the world, but if they're working on a bad script, nothing will come of it.

There are two types of films: independent productions and blockbuster movies with big budgets. Blockbuster movies are expensive to produce and distribute. They're usually made by huge studios who want to ensure their movies reach as wide an audience as possible. These big-budget movies appeal to older audiences.

Independent films are smaller-scale productions that may have to be financed individually or by groups of investors. These films often focus on niche markets and cater to specific tastes. They are generally less costly to produce and market. But, they aren't necessarily cheaper to view. In fact, most indie films are very hard to find.

The question is whether we need both types. What are the best movies for independent cinema? Hollywood is larger than Bollywood, in my opinion. That's because Hollywood produces almost twice as many movies per year as India does!

How many movies makes Hollywood each year?

Each year, Hollywood studios produce approximately 3,000 films. It's true, there are three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions on film advertising. They spend millions to produce them. They also spend millions on marketing them. How many end up being released in theaters?

It is likely that the answer is between 200-300. What happens then to the 2,700+ remaining films? The majority of these films are either direct-to video releases or sit in storage.

Some of them may not be seen. Some of them were selected for distribution via Netflix Prime, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus, iTunes or Google Play.

Hence why don't more of these films be released? Why aren’t they being shown in theaters instead? They're too expensive.

They could also be made cheaper and put into theaters.

This is where I come in. I can help guide you in the best way possible to put your movie in theaters.

I will show you how to maximize the return on your investment (ROI), and increase your chances of seeing your film in theaters.

Because let's face it...

It can be hard to get your film into the theaters. The process is complex, lengthy and involves many legalities.

It can also come at a high cost before you even begin.

The time frame in which your film can be distributed is also very limited.

There simply isn't enough time between when a film is finished, and its theatrical run begins.

Does Hollywood make more money from foreign sales than domestic sales?

Yes, but not very much. Foreign revenues made up about 17% of total revenue in 2017. Domestic revenues accounted to 83%.

In fact, more than half the world's people live in overseas markets.

This means that many people, even those who don't watch movies at home, will still want to see yours.

For example, $15,000. Suppose you were first nominated as a nominee in 1990. You'd owe $10,000 if you were previously nominated in 1990.

You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove your name permanently from the HWOF list.

How old does one have to get a star on the HWOF?

One needs to be at least 18 years old when being nominated. To receive a Star, one must still be living at the time. One can still be nominated after receiving a star after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Nominating you can be done by family members. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce can place a memorial marker next to the star, if there aren't any living relatives.

Why can't we just choose a different street and not have stars all over?

The HWOF isn't meant to be an historical monument. It honors those who made history through film.

What happened with the stars that were stolen? The thieves took around 1,200 stars. Each star is approximately 250-300 lbs in weight. That's about 4 tons of stars!
