The Royal Household has provided 22 Royal Household family members to the Queen in support of her as she grieves the loss of Prince Philip. How to get a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce established the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. The HWOF is located in Los Angeles at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 living persons listed on the HWOF.
To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. You will also receive a bronze plaque engraved with your name. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.
If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star. A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they decide to approve, they write a letter to the address of the applicant explaining their decision. The person who accepts the nomination will receive a second confirmation letter. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then charges $25 and forwards the money on to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.
The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the applicant or organization. The fee is then paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at $12.50. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.
Once an artist has received their star, he/she is eligible to be listed in the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due depends upon how many years ago your first nomination was. You would owe $15,000. If you were first Nominated in 1990, for example. For example, if your first nomination was in 1990, you would owe $15,000. However, if it had been in 1980, you would owe 10,000.
To remove yourself from HWOF, contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They will help you pay the remaining debt. They will remove your name permanently from the HWOF list.
What age is required to become a HWOF star?
